Hmmm a lot of painful, sad, funny and inspiring stories. Mine was a birthday cake ordered by a client. Cake was beautifully made and delivered only for the client to call me to say that it was like the oven used to bake the cake was dirty! Enh!!! An alarm went off in my head. Chaii this was like a physical assault to my person, I asked what happened and he said the cake tasted like insect, cockroach in particular. He complained that no one was able to eat the cake as a result of the “aftertaste”. I felt really bad and ashamed (Especially after the remark about the dirty oven). I apologized and decided to compensate him with another cake. Eventually, I realized it was the flour I bought for the baking, it had stayed too long at the shop and hence the insect/cockroach smell which reflected in the taste. I think that’s one incidence that really made me feel sad.

Wow! I’ve been looking for a way to let this out. Mine happened about 6months ago. I remembered dropping my little baby on the bed and I started weeping only for the client to be consoling me.
It was my third job with her, I was so thrilled to make another beautiful and tasty cake for her and her guests. Only for me to call her for follow up feedback and all I heard was…… “The cake went stale”. That has never happened to me before. After crying, I sat back to analyze and check what must have gone wrong. I found my mistake and never again will that happen. Using a new cake recipe that I have not tested

Not much experience though cos I started baking on my own last year, but I don’t think I can ever forget this painful experience in my life, A couple ordered for a talking drum cake for their engagement which was on Saturday morning 7am, ive decorated both the wedding cake and engagement and they are set for pick up on Friday evening, so a friend of mine and her son came over to my place that Friday she wanted me to assist her in getting some things from the market,so we dropped her son with one of my girls and we went to the market, when I got back I met them outside crying, I was afraid and kept asking what happen and nobody could give me an answer, I entered and lo and behold the talking drum cake that was ready for pick up has been shattered into pieces, I sat down and wept quietly, then I had to rush down to the market again to get another ingredients, no light to use the mixer, after serious mixing with hand then its time to bake, I placed the cakes in the gas oven, it started baking and suddenly the gas went off, with no back up cylinder with gas and no light yet, Sincerely that day wasn’t funny at all, I dint close my eyes till Saturday morning, but eventually I didn’t disappoint them, I delivered their cake, just that it wasn’t as beautiful as the first one but they still appreciate it.
